Another new month has dawned, and the theme for April is Crossovers, i.e. characters from different canons interacting with each other. Both in-universe (e.g. the various Star Treks) and out of universe crossovers are welcome!

The response to my last post seemed to be that people want me to continue, so here we are! The theme for February is Soulmate AU. Whether that's marks on the arm, first words, red strings of fate, or anything else you can think of as long as it's some kind of AU involving soulmates.

🎵 It's the most wonderful time of the year! 🎵 The theme for December is Food and Cooking. Your characters can be cooking for each other, taking part in an eating challenge, trying weird alien "food", or anything else you can think of as long as it involves food and/or cooking.

Some possible ideas if you want them:

• One character teaches another to cook.


• A character tries a kind of food they've never tried before.


• Cooking for a friend/partner/family member.


• Sharing comfort food after a hard day/traumatic event.


• Traditional food from RL or fictional cultures.


• Character invites all their friends round for a holiday meal.

Welcome to a new month! The theme for November is Epistolary, i.e. a work that is composed primarily to entirely of letters or messages. This means your characters can do anything you want, as long as they're communicating about it through writing or messages.

Some possible ideas if you want them:

• Characters communicate through letters/messages while apart.


• Characters leave passive aggressive notes for each other and/or argue through messages left for each other.


• Characters fall in love via letters/messages/etc before ever meeting.


• You've Got Mail / Shop Around the Corner AU.


• A series of captain's logs / diary entries / etc.


• The last message recorded before something terrible happens.

In honour of Halloween, the theme for this month is Supernatural Beings. Your characters can be being haunted by ghosts, getting turned into vampires or werewolves, dealing with fairies, trying not to get caught up in a war between angels or demons, or anything else you can think of as long as it involves at least one supernatural being.

Some possible ideas if you want them:

• Characters explore a haunted house.


• Character makes a deal with a demon/fairy/etc and has to deal with the consequences.


• Character makes a deal with a demon/fairy/etc and manages to outsmart them.


• Character gets turned into a werewolf/vampire/etc. How do they deal with it? Do they get turned back?


• An exploration of one or more canon supernatural beings.


• AU where one or more characters has always been a supernatural being. How does it change things?

It's September again, and this month marks one year since the launch of this comm.

The theme for this month is Role Reversal. What if X and Y had each other's jobs/life experiences/species? How would things change? How would they stay the same?

Some possible ideas if you want them:

• How do canon scenes/episodes change with X and Y swapped?


• Multiple characters swap roles. Some are better suited than others.


• X thought Y had the easier job/life/etc until they tried to step into it.


• A curse/spell/etc forces X and Y to walk a mile in each other's shoes.

Amnesty is over! The next Amnesty Month will be January.

From this month I'm introducing a new incentive for creators - the person who creates the most fanworks over the month (provided "most" is more than one) will be able to choose a future theme. So if there's a trope or theme you'd like to see, get working!

In honour of the Olympics, the theme for August is Sports and Games. Your characters can be playing them, watching them, trying to avoid them, or anything else you can think of.

Some possible ideas if you want them:

• Characters go to the Olympics or other sporting event. (As athletes, spectators, coaches...)


• Characters bond over being fans of the same sport and/or team.


• Introducing someone to a new sport.


• Unusual sports and games in SFF fandoms.


• Characters relax by playing or watching a game.


• Character's nemesis challenges them to a game and they have to quickly train up and/or get a team together in order to beat them.
